A Proud Past...

John Martin began farming on his own in 1919 in the town of Greece, New York, about 5 miles west of Rochester. There he grew fruits and vegetables and ran a dairy operation. In 1928 he moved to a 100-acre farm in Hilton, NY

In 1939 he acquired a farm in nearby Brockport, where the business was expanded to its present size. John’s  grandsons; David, James, Stephen, and Peter and son-in-law Mitch Beyler, now operate the business.

Today we are one of Western New York’s largest and best equipped growers, packers and shippers of cabbage and butternut squash for storage and fresh market.

Our common, cold and CA storage warehouses hold 15,000 tons of produce. We store cabbage until early July and butternut squash from October through early April. We ship 365 days a year, an average of 15 to 20 loads a week, much of it carried by our own refrigerated trucks.  Our customers are slaw houses and major food handlers located from New York City to Chicago and beyond.

We are members of the United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association, The Leafy Greens Council, the IFPA and we are listed in the Produce Reporter (“Blue Book”).

As suppliers of produce, we strive for the highest standard of quality and reliability of service day after day, week after week. To assure this standard, we work closely with Cornell University to stay abreast of changes in farm technology and horticultural practices.

Row upon row of 1 ton boxes being piling up inside storage as harvest pace gathers momentum. Wide open floor space with only a few supports allows easy maneuvering of lift trucks that handle boxes.
